These maps outline the areas of the greatest incidence of mass wastage in the United States
- Eastern US
- This area goes quickly from a mountainous area to plains. This means it likely a high-relief situation. It also is likely that there is quite a bit of rainfall. These factors combine to create a large amount of mass wastage events.
- Central US
- This is another area that follows the pattern of a quick elevation change. Going from mountainous areas to basins in very little distance. This plus the rivers causing erosion are likely to be the cause of mass wastage events
- Western US
- This area has a similar pattern of large mountains and valleys to create elevation differences in a short space. It is also in one of the most active areas as far as seismic activity goes. These factors create mass wastage events.
